About Me
I am a writer, journalist, and photographer located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have always been very passionate about storytelling and the power of an individual story.
When I was a child, I knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up, and as I went through school, I realized that journalism was a new way to tell stories.
I found the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas when I was seeking out a program that aligned with what I wanted to do, and found a home in the student publication, the North Texas Daily.
At the publication, I wrote in News, Opinion, Arts & Life, and The Dose sections. I served as a volunteer for three and a half semesters before taking over as Arts & Life/The Dose Editor midway through the fall of 2023. I served as the sections editor until the spring of 2025, when I became the Managing Editor for the paper for eight months until August.
In that role, I assisted with editing and writing breaking news stories and maintained communication and workflow between the managerial board and section editors. I also used the social media publishing website Buffer, copyedited the weekly newsletter, and learned InDesign by editing and helping curate page layouts.
In my last semester at the university I served as the Daily's Editor-in-Chief, after being with the paper for 10 semesters, publishing 80 articles and countless photographs.
I graduated from UNT magna cum laude, earning a BA in Journalism with a focus in digital and print media and a minor in English.
While at the Daily, I covered a variety of topics, including university affairs, artist profiles, event coverage, protests and critical reviews. I also served as a photographer, covering live music events, South by Southwest, and protests —rain or shine.
I also co-produced and co-hosted the "Daily's Dose," a media and current events podcast created by the Daily for three seasons.
